Adult Autism Full Assessment
Adult Autism Full Assessment
What is Autism?
Autism, or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how individuals perceive the world and interact with others.
It can impact communication, social relationships, and behaviour in varying degrees. Every autistic person is unique, with their own strengths and challenges.
Our Autism Assessment Service
We offer comprehensive autism assessments for adolescents and adults, using internationally recognised gold-standard diagnostic tools:
-
ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition)
-
ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised)
-
ACIA (Autism Clinical Interview for Adults)
Our assessment process adheres strictly to SIGN (Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network) and NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines, ensuring best-practice diagnostic standards. Our reports are neuro-affirmative, in advisement from the National Autism Implementation Team (Scotland).
What's included:
-
60 min Pre-Assessment Consultation (PAC) can be conducted remotely or in-person if preferred. Self report questionanires will be completed with the clinician alongside a psychosocial assessment. At the end of the session, recommendations will be made on whether full assessment is beneficial for you. *PAC appointments are for screening purposes and can be held without commiting to a full assessment - Screening for Autism.
-
Additional questionnaires will be emailed/posted to you for completion by yourself, your relatives and friends who have known you for a period of more than 3 years. This is to provide information on your early development and you daily life challenges throughout your life. Once these are returned, an assessment will be scheduled.
-
3 hour assessments are conducted in-person, involving exploration of your early development and childhood experiences - it is recommeded that you bring a friend, partner or family with you to support you and to give their perspectives.
- Following the assessment (within 3-4 weeks), you will receive a detailed diagnostic report, with clear explanations of the findings and tailored recommendations for support and intervention where appropriate. To ensure a thorough, unbiased assessment, each individual is evaluated by two clinicians from different allied health professional backgrounds (Counselling Psychologist and a Specialist Occupational Therapist) - This multidisciplinary approach enhances diagnostic accuracy and aligns with evidence-based practice recommendations.
- A 30-60 mins feedback session will be held remotely or in-person if preferred, to discuss your report and next steps.
